Within Zilker Park's 358 acres lies one of the crown jewels of Austin - Barton Springs Pool. The pool itself measures three acres in size, and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming.

Walk, bike or rent kayaks on town lake.&nbsp;There's over 10 miles of trail and it's a 9 minute walk from the Driskill Hotel.

Covert Park at Mount Bonnell is 5.1 acre historic linear park with a prominent overlook that is one of the most visited sites in Austin. Mount Bonnell is a 775-foot-high outcrop along the eastern shore of Lake Austin.To get to Mount Bonnell, take 35th street west over MoPac past Camp Mabry. After taking a left at the fork onto Old Bull Creek Road, take a right on Mount Bonnell Road and move up the hill, where you will then see parking to your left. All of this is free, and because of its accessibility is great for all ages!

stake out lookout spots below and above the South Congress Bridge.

It’s one of the best places to catch a direct view of the South Congress Bridge Bats, also known as Brazilian free-tailed bats, emerging and shooting out for their nightly feeding and aerial show.
